
This is the official website for renowned artist, John Hancox.
Born in Leicestershire in 1943, John has been drawing and painting for over 60 years and is still busy at the drawing board, producing world-class artwork both for fun and professionally for customers across the globe.
John is currently based in the Isle of Man having first visited the island in 1961 for the TT races.
A self-confessed motorcycle fanatic, John has competed in motorcycle sprints & hill climbs on a range of home-built machines including a Norton ‘Model 18’, Ariel ‘Red Hunter’ and Yamaha RD400.
He’s also a keen tennis and badminton player and at over 80 years of age is still competing successfully for teams in the local leagues!
Other interests include rugby football, cycling and heritage transport – “anything that’s old and on wheels”.
John enjoyed a successful career as a technical illustrator, providing his skills to a variety of companies including Prodrive in Banbury where he was the illustrator and artist for Subaru World Rally Team.
He’s also produced artwork featuring a wide range of subjects for magazines, books and other publications.
Being approached by Guy Martin and producing all the artwork for his first official calendar (2015) is a particular highlight.
John is also well known in the steam traction engine world having been a regular face at steam rallies across the UK. He also provided the poster, programme and souvenir artwork for many of those events, including the Great Dorset Steam Fair.
Charity work has always been important to John and he’s produced and donated drawings and paintings to be sold at auction for a variety of charities including: The Joey Dunlop Foundation, Manx Grand Prix Helicopter Fund, Tom Herron Appeal Fund, The Mike Hailwood Foundation, Hogg Motorsport Association & The Rob Vine Fund.
